Pick: Motherwell Result: 0-2 Stake: 6/10 Odds: 3.40 Bookmaker: Gamebookers vCash: Yes
Posted: Oct 02, 2008, 11:03
Motherwell may be 1-0 down from the 1st leg in France, but will still feel they can turn around the tie and make it through to the group stages. Stephen Craigan, Stephen Hughes and Chris Porter all return to the squad for this important match. Brian McClean remains out through injury.
Nancy may have finished 4th in the French League last season but they have struggled for form this season even though they won the first leg 1-0 in France. A real concern for the French side will be the fact that they are yet to keep a clean sheet in their 4 away games played in all competitions. Jean Calve and fellow defender, Geoffrey Adjet, are both out for this game tomorrow night.

Pick: Zenit Result: 1-2 Stake: 6/10 Odds: 2.89 Bookmaker: Pinnacle vCash: Yes
Posted: Sep 30, 2008, 10:50
Zenit will know that teams who fight fire with fire against Madrid rarely come out on top. But if they play a speedy counter-attacking style football, which they are quite adept at, their rapid-fire passing could cause the Spanish giants some problems. However, Los Blancos’ newly rediscovered efficiency infront of goal could give them the edge.
Probable Starting XI (4-3-2-1): Malafeev – Anyukov, Krizanac, Puygrenier, Siri – Zyryanov, Tymoschuk (c) Denisov – Danny, Arshavin - Pogrebnyak
Probable Starting XI (4-3-3): Casillas (c) – Sergio Ramos, Cannavaro, Pepe, Heinze – Van der Vaart, Diarrà, De la Red – Higuaín, Van Nistelrooy, Robben

Pick: Villareal Result: 1-0 Stake: 6/10 Odds: 1.53 Bookmaker: Paddy Power vCash: Yes
Posted: Sep 30, 2008, 10:44
Villarreal have put themselves into a strong position in the group after securing a 0-0 draw with Manchester United in Manchester in their first game. Villarreal are unbeaten in their last 6 competitive games to start the season and they have also won 4 of their last 5 games. Villarreal have also kept 4 clean sheets from their last 5 games. They are very strong side at their El Madrigal for quite some time.
Celtic need to retain the ball in away European sides, but they have also looked like a team that is struggling in recent matches and I dont really hold much faith in them picking up anything from this game.

Pick: Arsenal Result: 4-0 Stake: 6/10 Odds: 1.53 Bookmaker: William Hill vCash: Yes
Posted: Sep 30, 2008, 10:40
Arsenal will look to secure their first win of the Group stages of the competition here and will look to bounce back from their disappointing result at the weekend. They lost to Hull 2-1. Arsene Wenger still believes that his team had the quality to go all the way in the UEFA Champions League this season - and he might be right too.
Porto started CL group phase with 3-1 win over Fenerbahce. Watched Fener few times this year and they are just mediocre side IMHO. Porto do not have a good record when travelling to play in England. They have lost on nine of ten previous visits, including a 2-0 defeat at Arsenal in September 2006.
Probable squads:
Arsenal: Almunia - Sagna, Toure, Gallas, Clichy - Fabregas, Denilson, Walcott, Nasri - Adebayor, Van Persie
Porto: Helton, Sapunaru, Bruno Alves, Rolando, Fucile, Tomás Costa, Raul Meireles, Lucho, Tarik, Lisandro, Rodriguez.
